CSI:The Experience Heads to Boston

Friday, July 27th, 2007

Look out east coast Fans CSI:The Exhibit is headed your way. Check out the press release.

BOSTON —This fall, Museum visitors will star in the newest edition of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation by playing the role of forensic scientists in CSI: The Experience. Inspired by the hit CBS television series and making its East Coast debut at the Museum of Science, this traveling exhibition highlights the process of scientific inquiry and real investigative techniques used to solve crimes. It opens to the public on September 30, 2007 and shows through January 1, 2008.

Visitors to CSI: The Experience are led by cast members who portray investigators on the television show, along with their real-life counterparts, through three separate crime scenes: a city alley, a suburban home, and a woodland. In each setting, visitors are challenged to identify and gather evidence, analyze materials with the help of the latest scientific and technological advances; formulate hypotheses about the crime; and confirm and communicate their findings.

CSI: The Experience features two separate crime labs where visitors can explore the state-of-the-art technology used in evidence analysis. In order to identify vehicle tracks, clothing fibers, and paint chips in the first lab, museum-goers will collect data from mass spectrometry and microscope analysis to determine where matches occur and how they contribute to the larger hypothesis. Here, visitors can also evaluate digital evidence provided by cell phones and other electronics, in addition to hard evidence such as fingerprints, blood patterns, and ammunition casings. In a second laboratory space, visitors examine forensic art as they study age progression and attempt to match an image with a victim. Throughout the exhibit, visitors can immerse themselves in diverse fields of study, such as anthropology, entomology, toxicology and hematology — the sciences vital to unraveling the mysteries of crime scene investigation.

At the end of CSI: The Experience, visitors use the scientific information they gathered to answer a series of multiple-choice questions on touch screens. After completing the survey, a case summary is generated and exhibit-goers can compare their scientific findings to those of expert crime scene investigators, concluding with a video evaluation by Gil Grissom, the lead investigator on CSI: The Experience.

CSI: The Experience was developed by the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History for the Science Museum Exhibit Collaborative, with support from CBS Consumer Products, the cast and crew of the television show, the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, and the National Science Foundation. CSI: The Experience is an immersive, interactive forensic science exhibit related to the hit TV series that invites people to use real science to solve hypothetical crimes in an exciting multi-media environment. CSI: The Experience maintains the spirit of the popular television series and contains some graphic content. Parental guidance is suggested.

CSI New York Heads To Second Life

Friday, July 27th, 2007

csi_ny_iso.jpg

The new season of CSI New York will bring interactive opportunities for the audience. During the fifth episode of the new season a killer will disappear into the online world of Second Life not to be seen or heard from again until later in the season.

In Second Life, an Internet-based, open-ended virtual world that its residents shape using different tools, fans will soon be able to explore the CSI: NY crime lab without supervision. In the fifth episode of the new season, a killer on the show will escape into Second Life and he will not return to television until spring. In the meantime, the audience can help investigate the crime online.

“What I’m creating is this multimedia, virtual crime lab that will actually take place and be live and active that same weekend for the next year. You’ll now be able to actually solve one crime per month, like a real investigator,” says Zuiker[CSI creator] about his newest creation.

I’ve only popped into Second Life once or twice but I’m willing to give it a go for the sake of research you understand.

Hill Harper Wraps Mamma, I Want To Sing

Tuesday, July 24th, 2007

Years and years ago I saw the musical Mamma, I Want To Sing. Soon after my high school put on a version of it. I remember both performances warmly. It was good stuff. Hill Harper recently wrapped the movie version with Patti Labelle, Lynn Whitfield and Ciara. Books. Movies. AIDS Awareness. Hill Harper makes me tired just writing about him. Here’s a synopsis of the movie.

Mama, I Want to Sing!, written and directed by Charles Randolph-Wright, is a CodeBlack Entertainment’s adaptation of the Off-Broadway gospel musical, also titled “Mama, I Want to Sing!”. Grammy Award-winning singer Ciara, veteran soul singer Patti LaBelle, and screen siren Lynn Whitfield will all star in the film, which is scheduled for theatrical release mid-February of 2008. Production began in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in the month of June. It’s based on the life story of Doris Troy, a preacher’s daughter who sang in a church choir before being discovered by James Brown.

CSI New York Adds to Cast

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

According to TV Guide, CSI New York is getting a love interest and a new lab tech.

Ex-Dawson’s Creeker Kerr Smith and Shark’s Bess Wohl are joining the cast as recurring players this season.

Smith, last seen in Fox’s short-lived Justice, will play Drew Becker, an expert in forged documents and a love interest for Stella (Melina Kanakaredes). “Well, he pretends to be an expert in forged documents,” clarifies executive producer Pam Veasey. “He has a mysterious background that we are slowly developing. He’s a love interest who has an ulterior motive.”

Meanwhile, Wohl, who, in addition to a two-episode stint on Shark has guest-starred on Cold Case and Ghost Whisperer, will play a new lab tech and a good friend of Adam’s (A.J. Buckley).

My question is, does Stella need another shady love interest? Maybe he’s not going to be a bad guy maybe he’s and undercover cop. Hmmmmm….

I wonder just how quirky the new lab guy is going to be.

Adam Rodriquez Dishes on CSI Miami Season 6 Surprises

Saturday, July 21st, 2007

During this week’s CBS press tour Adam Rodriquez dished on a character returning to the fold.

Got a scoop from Adam Rodriguez, whose character Eric was seriously wounded last season on CSI: Miami. “What I can tell you about me [still] being alive…is that it’s going to leave us a lot of room to play with this season.”

Rodriguez teased that a character from the past is returning for season six. “It’s going to surprise a lot of people and delight them as well. [It’s] a character that’s been gone for several years and no one is expecting to see.”

I know I’m not expecting to see Kim Delaney back as DNA specialist Megan Donner. Maybe it’s her? Hmm…

Click below if you want a little spoiler because I think I know who it might be.  I don’t think it’s Kim Delaney…..

CBS Honcho talks about Grissom and Sara and Without A Trace Crossover

Saturday, July 21st, 2007

wtg28dn2.jpg

I’ll just give you the snippet from the Orlando Sentinel because I’ve got no idea what it means with regards to Grissom and Sara. The bit about them is actually confusing. We also get some concrete information about the Without A Trace and CSI Crossover.

Talking to Jonathan Littman at a CBS party is like one-stop shopping. He is behind some television’s biggest hits because of his association with Jerry Bruckheimer. And Littman happily provides previews.

Get ready for a “CSI”-”Without a Trace” crossover that has been three years in the making. “CSI” star William Petersen and “Trace” lead Anthony LaPaglia will do the crossing-over. The story will start on “CSI,” end on “Trace” (returning to 10 p.m. Thursdays) and air back-to-back in November.

“CSI”: “The Sara-Grissom storyline is going to conclude,” Littman says. “Don’t take it in that definitive term. It’s very smartly done.”

Tell me more.

“We have a big storyline finish at the start of the season,” he says. “It will play out for a few episodes. … The ambition of their [the writers’] stories is once again extremely high and extremely quirky. That arc worked so well with Grissom and Sara, that we are going to let these characters breathe this year. Everyone has their moments. The characters are going to have their journeys.”

Any ideas about what the Grissom and Sara quote means?

Gary Dourdan Not Fired Over Alleged Assault.

Friday, July 20th, 2007

garydourdan.jpg

TV Guide is reporting that Gary Dourdon was NOT fired over his skirmish with a TMZ photog.

Dourdan’s rep responded with a statement saying, “Gary has always been respectful of the media and the paparazzi but also values his privacy. It’s our belief that this is a minor incident exaggerated… to create a story.”

CBS says the scrape has not affected CSI production and that rumors of Dourdan being subsequently fired from the drama “are absolutely false.”

Emily Procter Reads From Slain Student Environmentalist Credo

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

Emily Proctor joined other stars as part of the Live Earth effort by reading parts of Michele Gardner-Quinn’s ecological essay as they hold portraits of the young woman. Garden-Quinn, a student at the University of Vermont, wrote the essay two days before she was abducted and murdered as part of a class project.

Filmmaker Damon Cason enlisted musician Sheryl Crow, Ferguson, Tipper Gore and actresses Hawn, Kate Hudson, Emily Procter and Meg Ryan to read excerpts of the essay for the video.

“I believe that my connection to all life forms prevents me from sitting back and watching this catastrophe,” Hudson says.

“The reality of climate change is here and now,” Gore says. “It is the environmental battle of our generation and generations to come.”

“In honor of all life, I am dedicating myself to preventing this worldwide ecological crisis,” Ryan says, quoting the final sentence of Gardner-Quinn’s work.

The only words in the video that are not the author’s belong to her mother, Diane, who concludes the piece:

“And I believe that my daughter can still change the world.”

Paparazzi Forces Eva La Rue To Be Escorted From Saks

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

evalawhitetop.jpg

Janet Charlton reports that Eva La Rue was recently asked to leave Saks Fifth Avenue because paparazzi were creating such a ruckus.

When CSI: Miami’s Eva LaRue walked into Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills, she noticed some paparazzi lurking outside. She figured someone like Paris Hilton was inside shopping. Eva browsed in the shoe department and drifted over to handbags where she found just what she wanted. She bought a purse and was headed back to shoes when a man in a suit introduced himself as store security. He explained “Photographers are following you all over, outside the store windows and using telephoto lenses. It’s created a commotion in the shoe department and customers are disturbed and complaining. Can I escort you to your car?” Eva was perplexed, but the man was polite and she cooperated by leaving - WITHOUT getting the shoes she wanted. It sounds odd, but she was sort of KICKED OUT of Saks. Her PR confirmed the story.

Geez a girl can’t even buy a pair of shoes in peace. Oh the price of fame. Wonder if the pics will surface?
