Gary Dourdan’s Black August Out on DVD Next Month

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

black-august.jpgIn Black August, Gary plays convict and prison activist George L. Jackson. Jackson was convicted stealing $70.00 from a gas station. The crime earned him one year in prison.

Black August revolves around the last 14 months of Jackson’s life, 11 years of which had been spent in incarceration. It chronicles Jackson’s underground efforts to compile his letters describing the inhuman and decrepit conditions he was living in. His collection of letters eventually evolved into the New York Times bestseller, Soledad Brothers.

During his incarceration, Jackson is charged with killing a guard “in retaliation for the shooting deaths of three black inmates at Soledad State Prison in California.” Ezra Stanley plays Gary’s 17 year-old brother who takes hostages in an attempt to secure his brother’s release. They younger Jackson eventually dies as a result of his action.

The movie hits video store shelves on February 19th. With a running time of 100 minutes, Black August the DVD will retail for $19.97. The film is part of the American Black Film Festival DVD series.

Hopefully more CSI stars will hit the shelves during the strike.

Marg Helgenberger and William Petersen Do the SAG Awards

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

billysag.jpg

Sorry I’ve been so neglectful of this blog. I helped plan a huge party at work it and sucked me in deeper than I imagined. At the end of each work day all I could do was crawl under my bed and turn off the phone.

Marg Helgenberger and William Petersen spiffied up for the Sunday’s Screen Actors Guild Awards. Marg’s hubby, Alan Rosenberg, is SAG president. This particular awards show went off without a hitch because writers were allowed to work for the show. SAG has been extremely supportive of Writes Guild. As a result they cut a deal.

Billy’s beard has returned. He’s probably spending a great deal of time in Chicago and must protect his cute face from the cold.

On to the pics.

You’ll remember that I ran a contest a looooong time ago asking for little known facts about our CSI stars. Here are some of the fun facts that were contributed courtesy of of Margie(fellow 451 blogger) and faithful reader AngelGurl.

Jorja Fox tried out for the part of Sara while on crutches because her leg was run over during the filming of an episode of the West Wing.

Marg Helgenberger, Gary Dourdan, Jorja Fox, and Robert David Hall all play in a “garage-style” band during breaks on the

All of the lab equipment in all three CSIs is fully functional.

Marg Helgenberger was on Family Feud back in the early 80s.

William Peterson played Joe Kennedy in a television miniseries called The Kennedys of Massachusetts.

David Caruso Launches New Company

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

lexicon.jpg

David Caruso made an appearance at last week’s Consumer Electronics Show(CES) to talk up his new company Lexicon. There’s not a lot of information on the media technology company though David and his partner did give an interview to CNET. In the vid, they used phrases like “competitive technology” and “accessibility” but weren’t ready to reveal exact details on the company’s business plan. David’s partner Nils Lahr, helped found iBeam(a wireless handheld camera system) and was instrumental in developing Windows Media streaming technology.

What all this adds up to is…well I don’t know but it sounds like David’s got some big plans.

Good luck to David on your new venture. Hopefully we’ll get too his youngest daughter Paloma Raquel, born in October, soon.  I’m sure she’s a cutie.
