Palm Springs PD Issues Official Statement About Gary Dourdan’s Drug Charges

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

normal_csi-lv-803_05.jpg

Palm Springs Police Department issued this statement regarding Gary’s arrest. There isn’t any new information from what I can tell.

On Monday, April 28 at approximately 5:12 AM, a Palm Springs patrol officer saw an occupied vehicle parked on the wrong side of the street on Sunny Dunes Road west of Gene Autry Trail. According to police reports, the interior light was on and it appeared as if the occupant of the vehicle in the driver’s seat was sleeping. The officer approached the vehicle and made contact with the occupant. He was identified by his California driver’s license as 41-year-old Robert Gary Durdin [Dourdan's legal name] of Venice, CA. The officer described Durdin as disoriented and possibly under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The officer subsequently located suspected cocaine, heroin, ecstacy, miscellaneous prescription drugs, and paraphernalia. Durdin was placed under arrest and booked at the Palm Springs Jail for Possession of Narcotics and Possession of Dangerous Drugs. After booking, he was released on $5,000 bail at approximately 10:30 AM on Monday.

According to TMZ, Gary was picked up by the Palm Springs police early yesterday morning.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ the actor was asleep in his car at 5:21 AM when they approached the vehicle and made the bust.

He was booked on suspicion of heroin, cocaine, ecstasy and prescription drugs possession. He posted $5,000 bail and was released. This comes on heals of rumors that Gary’s contract wasn’t renewed because of his personal issues.

Khandi Alexander Leaving CSI Miami

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

khandipremier.jpg

TV Guide reports another cast shake up. CSI Miami original cast member Khandi Alexander is set to depart. CBS declined to comment but Ausiello insists that Khandi had “had some, um, issues with a certain aspect of the show and leave it at that, K?” CBS is said to be looking for a new medical examiner. This one will be male. I wonder who’ll they’ll cast.

Khandi started out as a dance and choreographer. Her stage credits include Dreamgirls and Chicago. She even choreographed Whitney Houston’s road show for four years. She came to my attention as Fran in the miniseries The Corner. With her talent there’ll be no shortage of work. Good luck Khandi. We hate to see you go.

David Caruso Stalker Flees

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

davidliza.jpg

David Caruso and his family have dealt with a deranged fan for quite some time now. At some point last year, Austrian authorities finally nailed a 41-year-old woman who’d allegedly sent notes to the star.
She managed to avoid trial that time because she was out of the country. This time her attorney assured authorities that she’d be in court yesterday.

Looks like she lied (Wow what a surprise).

The fugitive is accused of sending more than 100 letters to the 52-year-old actor, famed for playing Lt. Horatio Caine on the hit CBS TV series, and stalking him for an autograph. When Caruso refused, the Tyrol native allegedly bombarded him with death threats.

One little chestnut went thusly: “I will locate you and your ugly Latina tramp and kill you.”

Some news reports suggest that she’s talking about Alana De La Garza who played his wife Marisol on the show. I’ve of the mind that the stalker is talking about his most recent partner Liza Marquez(pictured above) who’s also the and mother of his two youngest kids.

Per the Austria Press Agency, the suspect underwent an evaluation by a court-appointed shrink, who testified that the suspect was suffering from a “profound personality disorder.”

If convicted she could face up to three years in prison thanks to tougher Austrian stalking laws. That’s would be on top of her eluding justice charges.  My thoughts are with David and his family.

Gary Dourdan Leaving CSI

Monday, April 14th, 2008

normal_csi-lv-803_05.jpg

After 8 seasons it’s miracle that his much of the cast is still on board. With Jorja leaving in the fall I expected at least one cast member to follow sooner rather than later. According to TV Guide’s Ausiello, the next original cast member to leave is Gary Dourdan.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that original CSIer Gary Dourdan — whose contract is also set to expire next month — has informed producers that he is leaving the show. Although a precise timeframe is not known, CSI’s May 15 season finale could serve as Warrick’s swan song.

A spokesman for CBS would neither confirm or deny the story. I translate that to mean, “He’s quite but we are trying to convince him to stay.”

Eight years is looong time to do a serial. Filming something as complicated as CSI is like filming a mini movie every week. I can imagine it takes a toll on your life.

Supposedly CSI is already looking for a new cast member to play the part of   Ray Santoro “who transfers from Henderson to join the graveyard shift at the Las Vegas crime lab.”
