William Petersen In Cannes

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

williampetersencannes

I’d heard a few internet rumors that William Petersen was in Cannes but I couldn’t pinpoint why. Turns out he’s appearing at the MIPTV conference in the French city. It’s a venue for selling, buying, financing and distributing media internationally. Billy was there promoting CSI and to present at the International Digital Emmy Awards (IDEA). I think Billy looks good with the all white hair. They never let it go completely white on the show because it was too hard to shoot.  He’s even lost a few pounds.  Jorja looks great as well. After working those long hours for years, it looks like leaving the show has been good for them.  I know we miss them but I’m glad they’re enjoying their lives.

Enjoy the photos. We’ve got tons.

Alleged David Caruso Stalker Apprehended

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

david-caruso

After months on the run, the woman accused of stalking David Caruso has been apprehended. The 40-something Austrian woman is accused of sending more than a 100 threatening letters to the star. She was arrested on immigration charges in Baja California, Mexico several weeks ago and deported back to her native Austria on Thursday.

According to the court, the woman became angry with David after he refused to give her an autograph ultimately sending at least one letter threatening to kill the star. It’s also believed in CSI blogosphere that the same woman maintains various negative David Caruso sites and posts disparaging comments about the actor under different pseudonyms.

A court-appointed psychiatrist testified that the suspect has a “profound personality disorder.” If convicted, she faces up to three years in prison.

The former fan fled Austria after she failed to appear in Austrian court twice. If the suspect is convicted she’ll face up to 3 years in prison. No court date has been set.

Melina Kanakerides Set To Play Athena in Percy Jackson

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

melinakanablackdress4

Melina Kanakerides has scored a plum role in a Hollywood fantasy film.   She’ll play the goddess Athena alongside Hollywood A-listers Pierce Brosnon and Uma Thurman.  Percy Jackson is based on the Rick Riordan book by same name. The Percy Jackson and the Olympians series centers around Percy Jackson, a 12-year-old boy who learns he’s Poseidon’s son. The project is garnering Harry Potter-like buzz because of the subject matter and because Chris Columbus, who directed the first two Harry Potter films, has signed on.

The film is scheduled for a February 2010 release.

This is a real coup for Melina.  If the series does well, it could propel her into meatier film roles. Melina was recently nominated for an Arts Gabby. The Gabby awards honor professionals from the Greek American community.

Eva LaRue At TV Guide’s Sexiest Stars Party

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

evaandjoe

Eva LaRue and with boyfriend Brad Hamlin lit up the red carpet yesterday at the  TV Guide Sexiest Stars party.  The  event honored  the sexiest  TV stars named in the magazine’s March 26 edition. Eva is set to wed the president of Del Mar Seafood’s in Mexico this summer.

“I told him, ‘I’m looking for a long-term companion, but I don’t see the sense in getting married again,’” Eva said about their first date.

She soon changed her mind. “Within a month or two, we were both on the wedding train. It just seemed silly not to marry the person you’ve loved more than anybody.”

TV Guide named  CSI’s George Eads one of their sexiest stars. George didn’t attend the gala. Too bad he’s one of my favorite CSI hunks.

On to the pics of Eva an Joe. Enjoy.

Marg Helgenberger Files for Divorce

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

marghalan.jpg

Marg Helgenberger filed a petition to divorce husband Alan Rosenberger on a Tuesday in Los Angeles court.  The couple, separated for over four months, married in 1989 after meeting on the set of Ryan’s Hope.

“After 19 years of marriage, Marg and Alan have decided to take some time apart,” a rep said after the couple announced their separation. “They love and respect each other and remain committed to their family.”

Marg cited irreconcilable differences as cause for the filing. She’s requesting spousal support and asking that she and Alan split attorney’s fees.   Alan appeared on CSI twice, once in 2005 and the second time in 2007. He played a sleazy attorney that had a thing for Catherine. He currently serves as SAG president.

It’s rare that they a Hollywood marriage lasts so long. Lets all keep a good thought for Alan and Marg.

Scholarship Named in Honor Hill Harper

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

hillharper.jpg

The Hill Harper Mentoring Scholarship, named in honor of the best selling author and CSI:NY star, will benefit financially challenged college bound students who are members of the Big Brother Big Sister program.

“I am honored to have a scholarship that represents so much that I believe in named for me… at a time when President Obama is urging Americans to serve and First Lady Michelle Obama is asking us to consider making that service mentoring at-risk children,” Hill said in response the honor. “Children served by Big Brothers Big Sisters are among America`s most vulnerable - kids who live in poverty or single-parent homes or households where a parent is incarcerated. Research finds having a Big Brother or Big Sister increases a child`s chances of succeeding in school and staying away from negative influences.”

Recipients must be a Big or Little in the mentoring program. The scholarship, created and maintained by the United Negro College Fund is funded in part by the HBO Series Black List

Gary Sinise Says We Should Support Our Troops

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

garysiniseaarp.jpg

It’s no secret that CSI:NY’s Gary Sinise is an avid supporter of our troops. He and the Lt. Dan Ban have preformed countless USO shows around the world. Most recently he was awarded the United States of America Presidential Citizens Medal for his work with the USO and Operation Iraqi Children, a group that provides school supplies for children in Iraq. This time Gary has put pen to paper in support of the troops. Her’s a snippet from the CNN editorial Gary  wrote asking US citizens to continue to support our troops.

For over 35 years, we have had an all-volunteer military. This is a good thing. We want people to serve this country who want to be there and who do it of their own free will — not because they are drafted and forced into it.

We are lucky we have such people. What would we do if no one wanted to serve to defend the freedoms we all enjoy? And so, I feel the need to do what I can to thank them for that service in order to help keep them strong in tough times. You would be amazed at what a simple thank you will do.

I have been to Iraq four times now, Afghanistan once, and many many other places as well, all to show support of our troops. My goal is always to cover as many miles as possible and to take pictures, sign autographs and shake hands with as many troops as I can in the time I have. Trips have included bases in Kuwait, Qatar, UAE, Bahrain and in Iraq — Al Asad, Al Qaim, Ramadi , Habbaniyah, TQ airbase, Mosul, Balad, Tikrit and Baghdad.

Over the last six years, I have traveled around the world and all over the United States with the USO to visit and perform with my band, The Lt. Dan band, for our troops. I have supported many grassroots troop support efforts as well, and visited our wounded in the hospitals several times. I could not be more honored to play a small part in helping our troops and their families. We can never do enough for our veterans who have sacrificed so much to keep this nation free.

But we can always try to do more.

It is my goal to continue to visit our troops, wherever they may serve. It is the least I can do for the men and women who continue to do so much for our country.

God bless America.

E.T. Phone CSI?

Monday, March 16th, 2009

watchingcsicomhenrythomas

Remember the kid that stole our heart in 80’s blockbuster? Looks like he’s all grown up. Henry Thomas is set to appear on CSI as a convicted killer serving a life sentence. The May sweeps episode looks at Catherine’s early days a as a CSI.

The 38-year-old actor plays a convict Catherine  investigated during her first solo case. Thomas’ character questions the findings after nearly 20 years to study up on forensics. I checked out Thomas’ IMBD profile and he’s worked steadily, if not famously, since his role in the groundbreaking film.

If memory serves me correctly we’ve  had at least one episode that showed Catherine as a very young woman.

I wonder if this ep will feature any Grissom references. Maybe Catherine talks to him on the phone.  They could use his voice for flashbacks and present day.
