Melina Kanakaredes Attends Stuart House Benefit

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

melinastuar.jpg

Melina Kanakaredes showed her support at a Stuart House Benefit earlier this month. The benefit featured an “afternoon of shopping, bidding, live music, food and fashionable festivities on Melrose and Robertson outside his (John Varvatos)flagship boutique. “Shop To Show Your Support” will benefit Stuart House, a nationally recognized program of the Rape Treatment Center, serving the special needs of child victims of sexual abuse and their families.”

Stuart House is an “internationally recognized, model program that was created by the Rape Treatment Center in Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center, with support form SHARE, to serve the special needs of sexually abused children.”

Kudso to Melina for supporting this great cause. One hundred percent of the profits went to support the center. If you’d like to donate click HERE.

Video:Danny Messer One-Liners from CSI:NY

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

CBS is on a role with their videos. Who can’t resist bevy of Danny Messer one-liners in his signature New York accent?

I think my favorite Danny line so far is:

“My favorite kind of wine is beer.”

Writers Strike May End Soon

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

wga.jpg

WGA(Writers Guild of America) members and studio heads are near a deal that would end the three-month strike. Inside sources say a signed deal may happen by the end of the week. Rumors abound that studios are considering an extended season. That could mean CSI, CSI Miami and CSI:NY would be able to wrap up some pivotal plots. I’m thinking the whole Sara/Grissoms storyline. He asked her to marry him and then she bolts. That certainly needs some more explanation.

On Miami, I’d like to see a bit of more the Horatio/Kyle relationship develop. With Mac’s nemesis being brought down, there isn’t much left hanging on New York though we could be in for some surprises. If they do make a deal by the end of the month, I’d guess that production would could start as early as Monday morning.

Adam Rodriquez and Hill Harper Featured in Obama Video

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

We all know that Hill was an avid Obama supporter but I had no idea(maybe I’d forgotten) that Adam Rodriquez was a supporter as well. The video features a bevy of celebs singing and speaking along with an Obama speech. Interestingly enough, the Obama campaign had nothing to do with the actual creation of the video(got that little tidbit from NPR) though they sure are capitalizing on it now. Adam appears around 1:57 in the video. Hill show up very briefly near the end. Aisha Tyler, who was a lab tech on CSI for a time, first shows up at 1:02 but also follows Adam’s appearance. It’s a pretty cool vid be ye a supporter or not. And who can resist John Legend singing.

CBS Recalls CSI Fingerprint Kit

Monday, December 24th, 2007

csifingerprint-kit.jpgSinus Infection+Holiday Season=Sporadic Posting. I apologize.

Looks like CBS has finally headed warnings from a grassroots consumer group and pulled the very popular CSI Fingerprint Examination Kit. Earlier this month, the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) reported that two of the kit’s powders had dangerous levels of asbestos. The group spent “$165,000 to pay for independent laboratory testing of children’s toys and other household products.”

CBS, who has been critizied for not pulling the kit soon enough.

“Given the grave health risks associated with asbestos exposure, ADAO agrees with CBS that the toy kits should be removed from retail shelves. They should also be placed out of reach in homes until the testing dispute is resolved,” commentedLinda Reinstein, ADAO Executive Director. “Once asbestos is inhaled or swallowed, the damage is irreversible.”

Hopefully they’ll reissue a safer kit after the holidays.

CBS Pulls New CSI New York Episode

Monday, December 17th, 2007

Looks like they’ve decided to hold back some new shows because of the strike.

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) — With its first-run cupboards nearly empty, CBS has quietly pulled new episodes of “NCIS,” “Criminal Minds” and “CSI: NY” from this week’s schedule.

Said installments - “Tribes” (December 18), “3rd Life” (December 19) and “Happily Never After” (December 19) respectively - will be replaced by repeats from earlier this season - “Bury Your Dead,” “About Face” and “The Deep.”

No new air dates have been announced.

“CSI: Miami” (December 17), “The Unit” (December 18) and “Cane” (December 18) also have new episodes slated for this week but will run as normal.

CSI and Criminal Minds Fans Support WGA Strike

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

pencil37.png

CSI and Criminal Minds fans have united to support the WGA strike. Here’s how it works:

1. Find a pencil somewhere in your house. It does not have to be new. Break the tip off. For our slogan to make sense, your pencil should not have a point, so don’t sharpen it.
2. Write “You, like these pencils, are missing the point.” below to a piece of paper.
3. Put the pencil and the paper in an envelope, address it to:

Les Moonves
CBS
51 W 52nd St, Suite 35
New York, NY 10019-6119

4. Put a first class stamp on the envelope.
5. Drop it in in the mail.

CSI fans have checked with the post office and you can send a pencil via first class mail as long as it’s not sharpened. If you’ve followed the directions the pencil’s shouldn’t be. I wonder if Les is tired of us yet?

WGA Talks Break Down-Again

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

horrorstrike.jpg

Writer’s talks seems to have hit yet another stonewall. This time the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers is lashing out at the writer’s union.  Studio heads blame the latest break-down on the WGA’aa refusal to remove certain demands from the bargaining table.

“We’re disappointed to report that talks between the AMPTP and WGA have broken down yet again,” the studio group said in a statement they issued earlier today.  “Quite frankly, we’re puzzled and disheartened by an ongoing WGA negotiating strategy that seems designed to delay or derail talks rather than facilitate an end to this strike. Union negotiators in our industry have successfully concluded 306 major agreements with the AMPTP since its inception in 1982. The WGA organizers sitting across the table from us have never concluded even one industry accord.”

A major sticking point is the WGA demand that all “writers” associated with reality and animation programing be required to join the WGA.  This would prevent studios from using reality programing as filler if the writers ever walk out again.  Another issue is allowing sympathy strikes to support other guilds like the Screen Actor’s Guild.

Stay tuned.  Looks there will be a lot of reality programming in our future.
