Jorja Fox Talks About her Return

Monday, July 27th, 2009

jorjafred.jpg

Jorja Fox sat down with TVGuideMagazine.com to talk about her return to CSI. Here’s a snippet of what she had to say:

So what prompted your return to CSI?
Right around March, I felt really rested and was itching to work—I was ready and going to meetings and auditioning. When I was in Atlanta [filming a guest shot on Lifetime's Drop Dead Diva], I got the call about CSI—it was completely out of the blue! I never thought I’d be going back to work with people that I knew, I thought I’d be starting new things. That was a surprise, so I’m going back to work and it’s with the same people who I’ve worked with for eight years in the past. [Laughs] I was thrilled! For me it was a huge compliment!

When do you begin filming?
I was there all week—they started shooting July 20. I think I’m about knee-deep back in the water. It has just been a ball and a half. I think CSI’s premiere episode is one of the best that I’ve ever read. It’s a pleasant surprise. You think, “They’re starting Season 10—how is it going to be as good as it was last year or four years ago?” And they blew me away.

Jorja Fox Returns to Help with “Family”

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

We have little more information on Jorja’s return to CSI.   According to CSI’s executive producers Naren Shankar and Carol Mendelsohn, Sara’s back to help the familial feeling’s that been lost with the changes in the team.

“The family had disintegrated a little bit,” Shankar said. “We had people off in their own bubbles, and we want to restore that family [feeling]. And Jorja’s helping with that.”

“Sara comes in and brings everyone together. And she helps Catherine understand that as the [new] leader, she needs to make the team cohesive and really fire on all cylinders again,” Mendelsohn added

Grissom and Sara are definitely still together even if everything isn’t perfect. “They’re absolutely together,” said Shankar. “We’re talking about a couple of very independent individuals who have decided to share their life together. The first few months of that for any couple are a weird adjustment.”

Jorja Fox Returns Official Press Release

Monday, July 20th, 2009

Check it out:

LOS ANGELES, July 20 - SAG Award winner and fan favorite Jorja Fox will reprise her role as Sara Sidle on multiple episodes of CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION this fall, airing Thursdays (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

“We’re thrilled for Jorja’s return to CSI,” said executive producer Carol Mendelsohn. “The viewers and longtime CSI fans will be excited to discover where life has taken Sara Sidle and what brings her back to the CSI team in Las Vegas in our premiere episode.”

CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, which returns for its 10th season this fall, was last season’s number one drama. Fox, who had been a series regular since the show’s first season, left during its eighth season, when her character, Sara, suffering job burnout, decided to leave the crime lab to deal with past demons. She returned briefly during season nine and then left again to do research in Costa Rica, where her former boss and romantic partner, Gil Grissom, later joined her.

Jorja Fox Returning to CSI?

As part of an extensive interview with TV Guide, director William Friedkin said he thinks that Jorja Fox will return to the show. Friedkin, who directed CSI’s 200th episode, is a longtime friend of William Petersen and previously directed the December 2007 CSI episodes Cockroaches. Check out the excerpt where he talks about Jorja:

I think he’ll do a few [more episodes] as he said he would. I think if they can craft some special stories for him… I think Jorja [Fox] will as well. But it was really a pleasure to work with the other guys. I love working with Marg [Helgenberger] and Paul [Guilfoyle] and George [Eads], Eric [Szmanda]. Liz Vassey I think is underused on that show. I think she’s wonderful. I’ll tell you, I’ve been on feature films where the actors aren’t as prepared as they are on that show.

Video:Jorja Fox Talks About Season 9

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

EW’s Ausiello was able to grab a few moments with Jorja Fox at their pre-emmy bash.  It’s hard to believe that she’s been gone nearly a year and now she’s back.  She talks about her plans for the future, the possibility of Grisssom and Sara riding off into the sunset together and why she needed a break. (She’s been working non-stop for 12 years when you include ER and CSI.)

Jorja Fox Talks About Season 9

We learn get much about Grissom’s final show.  We know that Lady Heather makes and apperance, that there’s a new CSI and that Lawrence Fishburne is going to “replace”  Grissom.  He doesn’t actually come in as a supervisor so the replacement is  more in the form of lead actor.   I guess that makes Catherine the only supervisor for the night shift?

We’ve also got a bonus video of Jorja just shooting the breeze. Thanks JAA.org

Video: Jorja Fox Thanks the Monkey

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

Jorja Fox recently attended the launch of the new book Thanking The Monkey: Rethinking the way we treat animals. Jorja, a longtime vegetarian and animal right’s activist chats with Access Hollywood about recycling and going green. (The ever cute Emily Deschanel from Bones makes and appearance as well.)

The book itself looks to be a fun primer on being kinder to our furry friends:

Thanking the Monkey is light on lectures meant to make you feel guilty if you’re not a leather-eschewing vegan. It lets you have fun as you learn about Paul McCartney’s love of lambs and why Prince won’t wear wool. You’ll meet Fall Out Boy’s Andy Hurley and Pete Wentz—and their favorite traveling companion, Hemingway, Pete’s dog. You’ll read why Natalie Portman, Alicia Silverstone, and so many of those skinny but not bitchy actresses won’t eat or wear animals. And you’ll laugh over dozens of cartoons from Dan Piraro’s Bizzaro to other animal-friendly comics.

William Petersen Leaving CSI

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

billy.jpg

The good news is that the site is back. Thanks to all who stuck with us during the outage.

The bad news is that our dear William Petersen has decided to leave CSI. This will be Billy’s last season as the lead actor of the franchise that started it all. The show originally reported that Billy had signed a 9th season contract back in April. The thing is is the contract expires mid season. Probably when Billy’s play starts.

The other good news is that show runner Carol Mendelsohn says we having seeing the last of Billy Petersen.

“Billy is leaving. But he will remain throughout the run of the series an executive producer. And he will, whenever CBS asks, come back. I don’t think you’ve seen the last of Gil Grissom.”

For his part Billy wanted the transition to be good for everyone, “I want it to work for the writers, I want it to work for the cast, and, most importantly, I want it to work for the audience,” Billy said during at interview with ET. “I don’t want them to abandon the show.”

Billy also seems pretty pleased with where he’s landed. “For me, it’s a really good situation. I don’t want the audience to think it’s not… [It isn't] like there’s something going on, like ‘Petersen’s unhappy,’ ’cause it’s not true. It’s quite the contrary. ”

normal_emptyeyes03.jpg

Expect the Grissom story line to be turn dark right before Billy’s departure.

The events of last season’s finale — specifically the death of Dourdan’s Warrick — will push Grissom to the breaking point. “The easiest way to describe Grissom is ‘in crisis,’” Petersen told me. “As a man. As a scientist. As a teacher. As a middle-aged person who has been very successful at what he’s done… [he] wonders, ‘What’s the point?’

Expect Jorja Fox as Sara to return to help Grissom through the difficult time.

This will be a very different CSI. It’s amazing that an ensemble castlasted 8 season. I won’t stop watching but it hasn’t been the same since Jorja left. How are you guys feeling about the changes?

Jorja Fox and Eric Szmanda in Burma PSA

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

freeassk.jpg

Eric and Jorja’s PSA is part of the 30 Days for a Million Voices campaign. The US Campaign for Burma unveils a spot every day(usually they are a bit early) and encourages people to sign up and support the Burmese people. Here’s bit about struggle.

The people of the Southeast Asian country of Burma are locked in one of the world’s great freedom struggles. The country’s military rulers, the State Peace and Development Council, have run the country with an iron fist for the past 19 years, after they assumed power from a 26-year socialist dictatorship. In 1988, students, professionals, and others launched a nationwide uprising aimed at bringing an end to authoritarian rule during which millions of people courageously marched on the streets, calling for freedom and democracy.

The military responded by gunning down thousands of demonstrators and imprisoning thousands more in one of Southeast Asia’s most bloody episodes in recent history. The leader of the demonstrations, Min Ko Naing (pronounced Min Ko Nine), has been held behind bars ever since, where approximately 1,400 political prisoners remain. The most recognizable face of Burma, 1991 Nobel Peace Prize recipient Daw Aung San Suu Kyi (pronounced Daw Aung Sawn Sue Chee), has been in and out of house arrest and prison since 1988. Presently, she is held under house arrest.

You can also show your support by joining Fanista. For the entire month of May, 10% of your purchase will go to support the the campaign.

Video:Sara Kisses Grissom, Says Goodbye

Friday, November 16th, 2007

Here are the last five minutes of last night’s episode. Sara lays one on Grissom and leaves him a heartfelt letter.

Usually I’d say, “Enjoy.” but it’s entirely too sad for that.
