Jorja Fox and Eric Szmanda in Burma PSA

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

freeassk.jpg

Eric and Jorja’s PSA is part of the 30 Days for a Million Voices campaign. The US Campaign for Burma unveils a spot every day(usually they are a bit early) and encourages people to sign up and support the Burmese people. Here’s bit about struggle.

The people of the Southeast Asian country of Burma are locked in one of the world’s great freedom struggles. The country’s military rulers, the State Peace and Development Council, have run the country with an iron fist for the past 19 years, after they assumed power from a 26-year socialist dictatorship. In 1988, students, professionals, and others launched a nationwide uprising aimed at bringing an end to authoritarian rule during which millions of people courageously marched on the streets, calling for freedom and democracy.

The military responded by gunning down thousands of demonstrators and imprisoning thousands more in one of Southeast Asia’s most bloody episodes in recent history. The leader of the demonstrations, Min Ko Naing (pronounced Min Ko Nine), has been held behind bars ever since, where approximately 1,400 political prisoners remain. The most recognizable face of Burma, 1991 Nobel Peace Prize recipient Daw Aung San Suu Kyi (pronounced Daw Aung Sawn Sue Chee), has been in and out of house arrest and prison since 1988. Presently, she is held under house arrest.

You can also show your support by joining Fanista. For the entire month of May, 10% of your purchase will go to support the the campaign.

Video:Sara Kisses Grissom, Says Goodbye

Friday, November 16th, 2007

Here are the last five minutes of last night’s episode. Sara lays one on Grissom and leaves him a heartfelt letter.

Usually I’d say, “Enjoy.” but it’s entirely too sad for that.

Video: CSI - A Farewell to Sara set for November 15th

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

Wow. CBS is really pulling out all stops with their online videos. They’ve pulled up some great CSI moments including Butterflied when Grissom finally admitted his feelings for Sara. It looks like the final scene may be Sara driving away in a car. This is going to be a hard one to watch especially if we find out that Grissom and Sara are indeed married.

Jorja Fox Talks About Leaving CSI

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

jorjafoxcar.jpg

In an exclusive interview with EW.com, Jorja Fox talked about why she’s leaving the hit series. Actually she’s left. Monday was her last day on set.   This section of the interview gives you a look of where Jorja is coming from:

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: So, Jorja, whose call was this for you to leave CSI — yours or CBS’?
JORJA FOX: It’s my call — and a very, very difficult one, something I’ve been thinking about for a long, long time. It’s one of the hardest decisions I’ve made in my life. It has nothing to do with my contract, nothing to do with money…. It could be the stupidest thing I’ve ever done in my life. Only time will tell.

Okay, but…why?
There are so many things I want to do! Some are personal. Some are professional. And I really need to do some of them before I get too old…. It’s a really intense place to work. A lot of the stories [on the show] do end sadly and badly. That’s been one of the things I’ve struggled with — the violence. I’m not saying I’ll never do another violent [project], because I’m sure that I’ll be back in that world someday, but it’s really good for me to take a break from it.

This has come as a terrible blow to many of Jorja’s fans who campaigned tirelessly in hopes that monetary concerns were the reason for the stars potential departure.

It appears that Jorja needed to take a break for personal reasons. That’s completely understandable considering the grind of a primetime series. Jorja even joked that she “forgot” to have kids. This isn’t an extremely young cast and many are coming to a crossroads in their lives. I’d imagine that after more than seven years this is only the beginning of more cast departures.

Jorja Fox Officially Leaving CSI

Monday, October 15th, 2007

prettyjorjathumbnail.jpg

EW.com has exclusively learning that Jorja Fox is indeed leaving CSI and it’s not because of a monetary dispute.

“There are all these things I want to do. Some are personal. Some are professional. And I really need to do some of them before I get too old,” explains Fox. “If I thought the show were on its last legs, I would have tried harder to stay the course. But I feel like its going to be around for a while, so if I don’t want some of those dreams to pass me by. I have to get off the ride for a while.”

Jorja’s fans have been working tirelessly to make sure she was offered a fair and equitable raise since word leaked that she might not be returning to TV’s number one unscripted show(I do like saying that).   There will be more of EW.com’s exclusive interview with Jorja on Wednesday.

Video:Grissom Proposes to Sara?!

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

csi_l.jpgThe spoiler first appeared on EW prior the Thursday’s show. Still, the promo of Grissom actually proposing to Sara at the end of the ep sent shock waves through the CSI fandom. Next week’s episdoe (The Case of the Cross-Dressing Carp) will indeed feature Gil asking Sara to marry him. Well..it’s more like he suggests they get married. CBS has actually released a clip of the proposal as well as a promo that is entirely based on the Grissom-Sara storyline. Looks like the TPTB have invested heavily in this sometimes controversial ship. They are even using fandom vernacular like GSR.

Much is unclear right now. Is this an actual proposal? If so, will Sara say yes? Has the fan effort to keep Jorja Fox on the show worked? Is Jorja even planning on leaving the show permanently?

We won’t know until the season plays out but something big is bound to be in the works. What? We’ll just have to stay tuned. The clip and promo are below.

Video: Second Jorja Fox Flyover Campaign

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

jorjfoxflyover1042-copy.jpg

Thursday, Jorja Fox fans dispatched another flyover to the CSI offices at Universal City in California The wording was a bit different from the first which read “Keep Jorja On CBS”. This one actually read “Keep Jorja on CSI.” In addition to the flyovers, there has also been a letter writing that included dollars to “help” CBS pay for Jorja’s raise along with daily flower and plant deliveries to Jorja’s trailer.

The gifts prompted a thank you note from Jorja herself. In the note our favorite vegetarian said the flowers really brightened her week. Apparently she was (or is) filming a tough episode. I gotta tell you this ups the Jorja-Fox-awesome-points in my books. You can learn more about the Jorja Fox campaign HERE.

On to the the video.

Video: Jorja Fox Fans Take To the Sky

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

keepjorjabanner.jpg

The campaign to keep Jorja Fox on board has escalated to a mind blowing level. In less than a week’s time, Jorja Fox fans have banded together and hired a plane to fly a banner over the CSI offices at Universal City. Yesterday, at 10 a.m PST a banner with blue lettering and pink hearts which read “Keep Jorja Fox on CBS” graced a clear California sky.

Another flyover is set for Thursday at the same time. In addition to the flyover, fans have sent more than 3,200 letters from 37 countries, including Australia, the Netherlands and Japan. Many of letters contain dollars, or currency equivalent, to “help” CBS give Jorja a raise.

Jorja Fox has struck a passionate chord with women around the world. Mel, a mother two currently residing in Canada, sees Jorja as a role model for all women.

“Why am I Jorja Fox fan? The reason is simple. She doesn’t try to convert into society’s idea of beauty and perfection. And this in turn makes her more beautiful. She didn’t set out to be a role model and is humble about it.”

Aimee, a single mom from Missouri, shares a similar sentiment.

“I would really hate to see Sara leave the show. She is an intelligent, driven, successful, beautiful woman and an excellent role model for women. She proves that a woman can be strong and smart, yet still be feminine and desireable. Sara proves that it’s COOL to be a geek and it would a tragedy for the show and the fans to lose such a gifted actress”

Reports that Jorja is leaving the show permanently have not been confirmed by the network or Jorja.

Sara Sidle Lives But Jorja Fox Leaves?

Friday, September 28th, 2007

jorjafoxap.jpg

A few minutes after fans breathed a sigh of relief that Sara Sidle lived they let out a groan of disappointment. Immediately after the finale aired in much of the United States, TV Guide posted an interview with Jorja Fox. Ausiello maintians that Fox is set to leave the show.

I’m guessing Fox may be ready to talk about it on Nov. 9, which is the day after her final CSI is slated to air. The title of her swan song is, appropriately enough, “Hello, Goodbye.”

It’s important to note that those are Ausiello’s words, not Jorja’s. Jorja does admit to some tense contract negotiations. While other cast members extended contracts early on, Jorja chose not to for many reasons.

“Doing this show has been one of the most rewarding things in my life. It’s almost intangible to be able to describe how much I love and respect everybody over there. At the time, there was a lot of drama at our show. A lot of people had been put through the ringer, and to be perfectly frank with you, I was uncertain at that point [about staying]. There were some hard feelings that went around, and I didn’t want to enlist for any extra time at that point. I was feeling a little hurt and angry by some of the events that happened a couple of years ago that relate to the firing of myself and George Eads. And so, at that point, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to give anybody any extra time. And the raise was terrible, to be frank. An extra year for that amount of money? No thank you. Thank you very much, it’s very flattering, but no thank you.”

Jorja declined to comment on her current status or plans because she is currently under contract but said she would talk about it in the future. Presumably her speaking on the subject would jeopardize storyline secrecy. According the New York Post, CBS refused to comment on Jorja’s status.

I’m not really sure what to believe but it is important to note that Ausiello has been wrong about things in the past. One incident that comes to mind is when he firmly said there would be no Grissom-Sara romance in the Season 6 finale. You’ll remember that the last scene of that finale showed Sara and Grissom in the bedroom.

I wonder if Jorja will actually be leaving for a few episodes, similar to the sabbatical that William Petersen took in Season 7, only to return in early 2008. It would still make Ausiello’s pronouncement true-in a way. What do you think?
